Habakkuk

 

1:1-1:4

-     Habakkuk complains of the wickedness in Israel.

 

 

1:5-1:11

-         Israel will not believe that God is chastising them.

-         Chaledeans invade Israel, and their rulers will give their own god credit.

 

1:12-2:1

-         v.12 Habakkuk realizes that the invasion is for chastisement.

-         vv.14-17 Comparison: Using fishermen worshipping their nets because the nets are the ones that give them the fish.

-         KEY v.1 Standing upon a high ground and watching to see what the LORD will say.

 

2:2-2:20

-         v.4 “…the just shall live by his faith.”

-         v.13 These trials are permitted by God’s providence (guidance).

-         v.18 What good is there in worshipping idols?

-         v.20 God knows what He is doing, so be silent!

 

3:1-19

-         v.13 God’s purpose: to bring salvation to his people.

-         KEY vv.17-18 Given the circumstances, Habakkuk will rejoice in the LORD because of His promise to return to His temple.

-         v.19 God will provide strength.
